The Debrecen Kodály Choir, founded in 1955 by György Gulyás, is one of Hungary's oldest and most respected professional concert choirs. Based in Debrecen, the second-largest city in Hungary, the choir is primarily sponsored by the city. With a membership of between 40 and 50 singers, their repertoire spans a wide range of choral music, from a cappella pieces to European classical oratorios and contemporary works. The choir has a special focus on the compositions of Zoltán Kodály, a renowned Hungarian composer. Over the years, they have performed over 2000 concerts across 40 countries in Europe, Asia, Africa, and America, showcasing their versatility and excellence in choral music.
The choir has received numerous awards, including the Csokonai Prize, Artisjus Prize, Béla Bartók and Ditta Pásztory Prize, and Pro Arte Hungarica.
