Goatsnake

Goatsnake is an American doom metal band from Los Angeles, California, formed in 1996 as a collaboration between members of the bands The Obsessed, Sonic Youth, and Engine Kid. Renowned for their heavy, blues-infused guitar riffs and soulful vocals, Goatsnake quickly became a celebrated name within the stoner and doom metal scenes. The initial lineup was composed of guitarist Greg Anderson, vocalist Pete Stahl, bassist Guy Pinhas (later replaced by Scott Renner and then Stuart Dahlquist), and drummer Greg Rogers.

With a reputation built through thunderous live performances and a sound that melds the sludgy weight of Black Sabbath-inspired metal with a touch of Southern rock swagger, Goatsnake released their first album, "Goatsnake I," in 1999. Their music continued to evolve, capturing the heavy spirit of their era, as they produced revered records like "Flower of Disease" in 2000 and "Trampled Under Hoof" in 2004. After a period of disbandment, Goatsnake reunited and reignited their flame with the 2015 release of "Black Age Blues," an album filled with robust riffs and soul-driven melodies that underline their lengthy experience and the undeniable chemistry between the band members. Despite a sparse discography, Goatsnake has maintained a strong cult following and their work has influenced many bands within the doom and stoner metal genres.
