The Didjits were an American punk rock band formed in Mattoon, Illinois in 1981. The band consisted of Rick Sims on guitar and vocals, Doug Evans on bass, and Brad Sims on drums. Known for their energetic live performances, which often included theatrical elements and audience interaction, the Didjits were a staple of the punk scene in the Midwest, particularly in Chicago and Champaign. Rick Sims was notable for his aggressive guitar playing and provocative stage presence, frequently engaging with the audience in a confrontational manner.
The Didjits released several albums, including *Fizzjob*, *Hey Judester*, *Hornet Piñata*, *Full Nelson Reilly*, and *Que Sirhan Sirhan*. Their music was characterized by fast-paced rock and roll with influences from classic rock artists like Jerry Lee Lewis and AC/DC. One of their most notable achievements was having their song "Killboy Powerhead" covered by The Offspring on their breakthrough album *Smash*. The band disbanded in 1994 but briefly reunited in 2006. Following the death of Doug Evans in 2016, plans for another reunion were canceled.
