Alderliefste was a Dutch band from Amsterdam, active from 1993 to 2016. The group was led by frontman Gerard Jan Alderliefste, who handled lead vocals and guitar, alongside Luc de Bruin on drums and vocals, and Robert Kramers on bass and vocals. Initially known for their unique covers of popular hits, they often performed in various Amsterdam venues. Over time, they developed their own original Dutch-language songs. One of their notable achievements was participating in the Nationaal Songfestival in 2000 with the song "Evenwicht," which brought them national recognition. They also explored French music, releasing the album "Je maintiendrai" in 2004, which stayed in the national album charts for 41 weeks. The band collaborated with notable artists like Paul de Leeuw and Ramses Shaffy, and their music spanned genres such as pop, rock, and chanson.
Alderliefste's discography includes albums like "Life in Luxembourg," "Alderliefste," "Je maintiendrai," "De Franse Slag," and "Trois." Their singles, such as "Na vannacht," "Incompleet," and "Laat me / Vivre," showcased their versatility. After the band disbanded, Gerard Alderliefste continued as a solo artist, while the rest of the band formed the Nederpop AllStars.
