Rojda, born Kadriye Şenses in 1978 in Kurtalan, Siirt, Turkey, is a renowned Kurdish singer and songwriter. She began her music career in the early 1990s, initially performing with local bands in Istanbul, including Koma Gulên Xerzan and later with Navenda Çanda Mezopotamya. In 1997, she was part of the all-female group Koma Asmîn. Rojda's music is influenced by prominent Kurdish singers like Karapetê Xaço and Merzîye Rezazî. She released her first solo album, *Sebra Min*, in 2006 and has since performed in several countries, including the UK, Germany, Italy, and Austria. Her singing style is characterized by traditional melismatic arrangements.
Rojda officially changed her name from Kadriye Şenses to Rojda in 2004, adopting a Kurdish name to reflect her cultural identity. She has been involved in various cultural events and has faced legal challenges due to her performances, including a notable incident in 2009 when she was accused of spreading propaganda for an illegal organization after singing a Kurdish folk song. Despite these challenges, Rojda continues to be an important figure in Kurdish music, known for her powerful voice and cultural advocacy.
