Patterson Hood

Patterson Hood is a prolific singer-songwriter and musician widely recognized as a founding member of the critically acclaimed alternative country-rock band Drive-By Truckers. Born on March 24, 1964, in Florence, Alabama, Hood hails from musical stock; his father, David Hood, was a bassist for the legendary Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section. Patterson Hood's gritty, narrative-driven songwriting is steeped in the Southern Gothic tradition, exploring themes of family, history, and the complexities of life in the American South.

Beyond his substantial contributions to Drive-By Truckers, Patterson Hood has also carved out a significant solo career. His solo albums, including "Murdering Oscar (And Other Love Songs)" and "Heat Lightning Rumbles in The Distance," showcase Hood’s more personal and introspective side, offering fans a different angle of his artistic spectrum. With "Killers and Stars," initially a demo recorded in 2001 and released in 2004, Hood displayed an intimate, raw edge, while his live record "Live at the Shoals Theatre" captures the dynamic energy of his performances. The single "Let's Go Dancing" is another testament to his narrative prowess and melodic sensibilities. Whether with Drive-By Truckers or as a solo artist, Patterson Hood remains a distinctive voice in American music, renowned for his storytelling and the emotional depth of his songs.
