Octavian Nemescu is a Romanian composer and conductor who has made a name for himself in the world of classical music. Born in Bucharest in 1949, Nemescu studied at the Bucharest Conservatory and later at the Juilliard School in New York City. He has conducted many of the world's leading orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and the London Symphony Orchestra. Nemescu's compositions are often inspired by Romanian folk music, and he has also written a number of operas and ballets.
