Trio con Brio Copenhagen is a powerhouse piano trio blending fiery energy with Nordic precision. Founded in 1999 by South Korean sisters Soo-Jin Hong (violin) and Soo-Kyung Hong (cello), alongside Danish pianist Jens Elvekjaer, this Copenhagen-based ensemble has become synonymous with both classical masterpieces and contemporary Scandinavian works. They’ve made waves with their complete Beethoven cycle (spread across three acclaimed volumes) and their gutsy interpretations of Shostakovich, while also championing Danish composers like Poul Ruders and Bent Sørensen – even snagging a Danish Grammy for their recording of Ruders’ intense piano trio. Whether breathing new life into Tchaikovsky’s romanticism or navigating the haunting soundscapes of modern Danish works, their performances crackle with the kind of chemistry that only comes from two decades of musical partnership.
