Texas is a Scottish pop-rock band that was formed in 1986 in Glasgow. Named after the 1984 Wim Wenders movie "Paris, Texas," the group was founded by lead singer Sharleen Spiteri and bassist Johnny McElhone, who were swiftly joined by other musicians to complete the lineup. Texas made their debut in the music scene with their album "Southside" in 1989, powered by the lead single "I Don’t Want a Lover," which became an international hit and set their career in motion. Over the years, Texas has retained a strong following, releasing a string of successful albums and singles that blend elements of pop, rock, soul, and even electronic music.
