Eric Schneider

Eric Schneider is a highly regarded German pianist known for his expertise in Lieder accompaniment. Originally from the Bergisches Land region near Cologne, he studied both piano and mathematics before fully dedicating himself to music, pursuing advanced studies in Lied accompaniment under Hartmut Höll. Schneider has benefited from artistic mentoring by renowned musicians such as Paul Badura-Skoda, Alfred Brendel, Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, and Elisabeth Schwarzkopf. He has performed at prestigious venues like Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Carnegie Hall in New York, and the Tokyo Opera City, and has been a regular at festivals including the Schubertiade Schwarzenberg and Salzburg Festival. His numerous acclaimed recordings feature collaborations with celebrated singers such as Christine Schäfer, Matthias Goerne, and Anna Prohaska, showcasing works by composers like Schubert, Mahler, and Hanns Eisler. Schneider also teaches Lied repertoire at the Berlin University of the Arts, where he resides.

Before focusing on Lieder, Eric Schneider built a career as a classical pianist with multiple prizes and recital performances. In addition to his extensive work as an accompanist, he studied orchestral conducting in Berlin during the 1990s.
