Pécs Chamber Choir

The Pécs Chamber Choir, based in Pécs, Hungary, was founded on October 22, 1958, by Dobos László and Aurél Tillai. The choir is composed of a diverse group of members, including teachers, doctors, intellectuals, and university students. Their repertoire spans a wide range of choral music, with a particular focus on Hungarian classical composers such as Kodály, Bartók, and Bárdos. The choir has achieved significant international recognition, winning 39 international prizes, including multiple first prizes at competitions in Tours and Spittal, and three first prizes at the Orlando Lasso Choir Competition in Rome in 2000. They have also been involved in various philharmonic activities, performing over 30 oratorical pieces and hosting the International Chamber Choir Festival of Pécs since 1964.

The choir's performances have been broadcast on Hungarian Radio and in several European cities, showcasing their versatility and dedication to choral music. Their recent releases include works like Monteverdi's "Messa A 4 Voci" and "Italian Madrigals From The 16th Century," highlighting their interest in classical and early music. With their rich history and commitment to musical excellence, the Pécs Chamber Choir continues to be a prominent figure in Hungary's vibrant musical landscape.
