M. G. Radhakrishnan

M. G. Radhakrishnan was a beloved Indian music composer who left an indelible mark on Malayalam cinema with his soulful and innovative tunes. Born on July 29, 1940, in Haripad, Kerala, he kicked off his career in the 1970s and quickly became known for blending classical elements with contemporary vibes in film scores. Hits from movies like Thakara, Chamaram, Adaminte Vaariyellu, and the iconic psychological thriller Manichitrathazhu showcased his knack for creating haunting melodies that perfectly captured the essence of the stories. He also composed for other films such as Agnidevan and Stalin Sivadas, earning him multiple Kerala State Film Awards along the way.

Beyond films, Radhakrishnan dabbled in Carnatic music and light music, and he was the elder brother of playback singer M. G. Sreekumar. His work often featured rich orchestration and emotional depth, making him a favorite among music lovers in South India. Sadly, he passed away on July 2, 2010, but his compositions continue to resonate, with remixes and lo-fi versions of tracks like "Naadha Neevarum Kaalocha" keeping his legacy alive and kicking.
