Christian Westergaard

Christian Westergaard is a Danish pianist known for his deep dives into the works of Danish composers, particularly his extensive recordings of Herman D. Koppel's music. He has single-handedly brought much of Koppel's piano repertoire to light, recording several volumes of his sonatas, variations, and suites. Westergaard's dedication to exploring and showcasing this often-overlooked 20th-century composer has earned him critical acclaim and cemented his place as a champion of Danish classical music.

Beyond Koppel, Westergaard has also recorded works by other important Danish composers, including a significant contribution to the complete song edition of Peter Heise and a collection of Niels W. Gade's lighter works, encompassing waltzes, tangos, and even cinema music.
