### Budhaditya Mukherjee
Budhaditya Mukherjee is a renowned Hindustani classical sitar and surbahar player from Kolkata, India, born in 1955. He is part of the Imdadkhani (Etawah) gharana, a prestigious school in Indian classical music. Mukherjee began learning the sitar at the age of five under the guidance of his father, Pandit Bimalendu Mukherjee, who himself studied under the legendary sitarist Enayat Khan. Initially making a name for himself through national-level music competitions in 1970, he was praised by both filmmaker Satyajit Ray and South Indian veena maestro S. Balachander, who called him the "sitar artist of the century." His technical virtuosity and mastery of various raags have earned him widespread acclaim.
Mukherjee is also known for his achievements beyond India, including becoming the first musician to perform at the House of Commons in London in 1990. He has taught at several international institutions, including the Istituto Interculturale di Studi Musicali Comparati in Venice and the Rotterdam Conservatory. Besides his musical career, he holds a degree in Metallurgical Engineering. Over the years, he has performed concerts in over twenty-five countries and has an extensive discography featuring numerous CDs and LPs. However, the recent releases mentioned do not align with his typical genre, which may indicate a different artist or a wrongly attributed discography.
