The Slits were a British punk rock band formed in London in 1976. The band was composed of Ari Up (vocals), Viv Albertine (guitar), Tessa Pollitt (bass), and Palmolive (drums). The Slits were one of the first all-female punk bands and were known for their raw, energetic sound and their confrontational lyrics. The band released two albums, "Cut" (1979) and "Return of the Giant Slits" (1981), before disbanding in 1982. The Slits reunited in 2005 and have continued to tour and record sporadically since then.
