José Asunción Flores

José Asunción Flores, affectionately known as "El Gran Maestro," was a legendary Paraguayan composer, guitarist, and singer. Born in 1904, he is widely regarded as the father of Paraguayan folk music, known as "guarania." Flores's compositions, such as "India" and "Nde Ratypykua," are deeply rooted in the indigenous and mestizo traditions of his homeland. His music, characterized by its haunting melodies and evocative lyrics, has had a profound impact on Paraguayan culture and beyond.
