The Statler Brothers

The Statler Brothers, an American country music quartet, made a notable mark on the music industry with their harmonious blend of gospel, country, and pop influences. Originating in Staunton, Virginia, in the early 1960s, the group was initially formed by brothers Harold and Don Reid, along with Phil Balsley and Lew DeWitt. Later, Jimmy Fortune replaced DeWitt due to health issues. They found their breakthrough after they were discovered by Johnny Cash and invited to join his tour, which significantly helped launch their career. The group named themselves after a brand of tissues but they are anything but disposable in the landscape of American music.

Over the decades, The Statler Brothers have gifted the music world with a plethora of albums that have captured the hearts of many. Not only have they achieved significant success in the country music scene, but they have also been embraced by gospel music fans, evident in releases like "The Gospel Music Of The Statler Brothers Volume One" and "Volume Two." Their rich harmonies and soulful lyrics have led to numerous awards, including Grammy Awards and multiple Country Music Association awards for Vocal Group of the Year. Their signature song, "Flowers on the Wall," not only won them a Grammy but also immortalized them in music history. Active until 2002, their illustrious career was celebrated with "The Best From The Farewell Concert (Live)," marking the end of an era. The Statler Brothers' contributions to country and gospel music are indelible, ensuring their legacy endures in the annals of American music history.
