Yellowsky

Yellowsky, born Roberto Andres Pooyak, is a prominent Indigenous rapper from Canada, hailing from the Plains Cree First Nation and having South American bloodlines. He is recognized as Canada's first Indigenous Reggae artist, starting his career in 2008. Yellowsky's music combines elements of hip-hop and reggae, reflecting his diverse background and ideologies. His flow is characterized by massive, bottom-end-heavy beats that pay homage to classic hip-hop while incorporating modern MC styles and Jamaican deejaying traditions. His rebellious nature is influenced by being raised by residential school survivors, which fuels his music with a strong social and political consciousness.
