The Von Bondies are an American alternative rock band hailing from Detroit, Michigan. Formed in 1997 by lead vocalist and guitarist Jason Stollsteimer, this group found the core of their gritty, energetic sound in the bustling garage rock revival scene of the early 2000s. Alongside Stollsteimer, the original lineup included bassist Carrie Smith, drummer Don Blum, and guitarist Marcie Bolen, creating a dynamic that propelled them into the indie rock spotlight.
Achieving critical acclaim with their debut album, "Lack of Communication," released in 2001, The Von Bondies quickly established themselves with a raw, unpolished aesthetic that resonated with fans of the burgeoning garage rock movement. However, it was their follow-up, "Pawn Shoppe Heart," released in 2004, that captured wider attention, driven in part by the infectious single "C'mon, C'mon," which not only became a signature track for the band but also found its place as the theme song for the television show "Rescue Me." Despite numerous changes in the lineup and some periods of relative quiet, The Von Bondies remained active throughout the 2000s, notably with their 2009 album, "Love, Hate and Then There's You," showcasing a more polished sound while still paying homage to their raw roots. Their energetic live performances and uncompromising sound have etched them a place in the garage rock narrative of the early 21st century.
