Maalesh

Maalesh is a musician from the Comoros Islands, born Othman Mohamed Elyas in Moroni. His music is a vibrant blend of African, Asian, and Arab influences, reflecting the cultural diversity of his homeland. Maalesh is known for his soulful voice and skillful playing of the electric-acoustic guitar and percussion. His songs often advocate for tolerance, freedom, and cultural diversity, using languages such as Comorian, French, Arabic, and Swahili. Maalesh has achieved significant success, including winning the "Decouverte RFI Afrique" prize in 1995 and the Grand Prix International at the Festival Visa Francophone in 2001. He has toured extensively throughout Europe and the Indian Ocean, showcasing his unique musical style.

Maalesh's recent releases include titles like "Ntsobwe," "Yelela (Afrique du soleil levant)," and "Wassi wassi (Musique afro-orientale de l'Océan Indien)," which continue to reflect his eclectic and culturally rich musical heritage.
