Death Grips is an American experimental hip-hop group formed in 2010 in Sacramento, California. The band is known for its unique blend of punk, electronic, noise, and hip-hop influences, creating an aggressive, raw sound that has garnered a passionate fan base and substantial critical acclaim. The group consists of vocalist Stefan Burnett, known by his stage name MC Ride; drummer and producer Zach Hill; and producer and keyboardist Andy Morin, often referred to by his stage name Flatlander. Their work is noted for its intense and abrasive sonic approach, confrontational lyrics, and a fiercely independent attitude towards the music industry.
The group has released several albums and projects to critical praise, with "The Powers That B" being one of their significant works, which was released in two parts in 2014 and 2015. Among their other releases are the high-energy "Bottomless Pit" (2016) and "Year Of The Snitch" (2018), which continued to push boundaries and challenge conventional music norms. Between official albums, Death Grips have put out a variety of other content, including the instrumental album "Fashion Week" and the more experimental "Steroids (Crouching Tiger Hidden Gabber)". Despite their unpredictable release strategies and often cryptic social media presence, Death Grips have maintained a dedicated following and have left an indelible mark on the underground music scene.
