Anjan Chattopadhyay

Anjan Chattopadhyay is a sitar maestro born into a cultured and aristocratic Bengali family in Calcutta, India. He grew up surrounded by the serene beauty of Indian classical music, with his elder brother, Pandit Gourishankar Chattopadhyay—a noted surbahar and sitar player of the Senia Gharana—playing a crucial role in his musical initiation. Starting sitar training at a young age, Anjan also received vocal lessons from his elder sister, deepening his musical foundation. His debut performance came at age nine, earning critical acclaim and setting him on a committed path to master the sitar under his brother’s rigorous mentorship. He further enriched his knowledge by studying tabla rhythms and advancing his sitar technique under renowned teachers, shaping a distinctive style that resonates in his acclaimed works such as *Sunset*, *Eastern Visions*, and *Melodies for the Soul*.
