Altaria is a Finnish power metal band that first commanded attention in the early 2000s with their melodic and anthemic style. Formed in 2000 by former Blindside and current Sonata Arctica guitarist Jani Liimatainen, the band quickly established themselves within the power metal genre with their blend of soaring melodies, heavy guitar riffs, and symphonic elements. They initially gained momentum with a series of well-received demo recordings, leading to their first full-length album, "Invitation," in 2003.
