Soul Coughing

Soul Coughing was a quirky, genre-blending band that brought a unique mix of alternative rock, jazz, and hip-hop to the 90s music scene. The band, known for its eclectic sound and innovative use of samples and loops, was formed by singer/guitarist Mike Doughty along with keyboardist Mark De Gli Antoni, bassist Sebastian Steinberg, and drummer Yuval Gabay. They made a splash with their debut album, "Ruby Vroom," in 1994, which showcased their knack for combining offbeat poetry with funky rhythms.

Their follow-up records, "Irresistible Bliss" and "El Oso," solidified their reputation as a band that truly danced to the beat of their own drum. Tracks like "Super Bon Bon" and "Circles" became cult favorites, capturing the band's playful yet profound essence. Despite disbanding in 2000, Soul Coughing’s music continues to resonate with fans who appreciate their idiosyncratic approach and boundary-pushing sound.
