Branimir Slokar

Branimir Slokar is a prominent trombonist recognized for his versatility and profound contributions to classical trombone music. Born on July 22, 1946, in Maribor, Slovenia (then a part of the former Yugoslavia), Slokar's musical journey began at an early age, culminating in a rich career that continues to influence the brass community. After studying at the Ljubljana Academy of Music, he further honed his craft in Paris under the tutelage of Vinko Globokar and René Leibowitz, acquiring a depth of skill that would propel his international acclaim.

Slokar's distinguished career has seen him perform as a soloist with numerous orchestras around the globe and capture leadership roles in respected ensembles, including the position of principal trombone with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra and later the Bolshoi Theatre Orchestra.
