Canadian soprano Heather Newhouse is a standout voice in both baroque and contemporary classical music, with a career that’s taken her from her native Canada to some of Europe’s most respected stages. She studied voice at the University of Western Ontario, earned her Master of Music at London’s Guildhall School, and furthered her training in France at the Conservatoire National de Lyon, immersing herself in the nuances of French repertoire. Along the way, she’s picked up awards at competitions like the Canadian National Music Festival, the Lotte Lehmann CyberSing Art Song Competition, the Toulouse Mélodie Française, and the Froville Baroque Singing Competition, which she won in 2012.
Newhouse has been a featured soloist with ensembles like Le Concert de l’Hostel Dieu in Lyon and has tackled major roles in operas such as Pamina in Mozart’s *Die Zauberflöte* and the Governess in Britten’s *The Turn of the Screw* at the Opéra National de Lyon. She’s also known for her recordings, including recent projects like *OVNI Baroque - Cantata a 2*, a collaboration with Emmanuelle Dauvin featuring Bach arias. Whether she’s singing Baroque cantatas, opera, or film scores (like the soundtrack to *Folia*), her performances are marked by both technical precision and expressive depth, making her a versatile and engaging artist for classical audiences today.
