Matthias Puech

Matthias Puech is a Paris-born composer, instrument designer, researcher, and teacher known for blending natural soundscapes with synthesized textures to create immersive auditory experiences. Born in 1983, he combines his scientific background in computer science with his passion for music, working as a research and development scientist at INA GRM where he leads the development of GRM Tools. His compositions often blur the lines between sound synthesis and field recordings, transporting listeners into imagined ecosystems where machine and environment interact symbiotically. His music has been released on labels like Hands in the Dark and Hallow Ground and performed internationally at venues such as Cafe OTO in London and Sonic Acts in Amsterdam.

Puech is also an innovative instrument builder, collaborating with companies like 4ms to design synthesizer modules that artists worldwide use. His albums, including *Alpestres* and *A Geography of Absence*, showcase his fluid approach to ambient noise and synthesized sound, exploring themes of transformation, growth, and emotional landscapes inspired by personal experiences.
