Hot Hot Heat

Hot Hot Heat emerged as a fresh voice in the early 2000s indie rock scene, hailing from Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. Founded in 1999, the band initially began as a noise punk group but quickly evolved, adopting a more accessible and melodic sound blending elements of punk, pop, and dance-punk without losing their energetic edge. The band's lineup solidified around frontman Steve Bays, guitarist Luke Paquin, bassist Dustin Hawthorne, and drummer Paul Hawley. They gained significant attention with their 2002 album "Make Up The Breakdown," which was later reissued as a Deluxe Remastered edition, showcasing their catchy hooks and new wave influences that resonated with both critics and audiences alike.

Over the next decade, Hot Hot Heat consistently released albums and EPs that cemented their place within the indie rock landscape. Their ability to infuse infectious melodies with off-kilter lyrical themes continued with albums such as "Future Breeds" and the expansive "Happiness LTD." which also received a remix treatment in the form of the "Happiness LTD. EP", the Chameleonic Remix for "Let Me In", and the JNRSNCHZ Mix on the "Let Me In [JNRSNCHZ Mix] (DMD Maxi)." Their eponymous album "Hot Hot Heat," released in 2016, served as their swansong, with the lead single "Kid Who Stays in the Picture" encapsulating their enduring appeal. Through their career span, Hot Hot Heat also contributed to multimedia, as seen with the "Mr. Young Theme Song (Who You Calling Kid?)," embracing their quirky and vibrant musical identity until their amicable disbandment.
