Dag Achatz is a renowned Swedish pianist and composer, born in Stockholm in 1942 to a musical family. His mother was Swedish, and his father was Viennese, both being musicians. Achatz was raised in Switzerland, where he began his musical journey at the Geneva Conservatory at the age of eight. He continued his studies with esteemed teachers in Stockholm, Siena, and Paris. His career is marked by numerous prestigious awards, including victories in the Rudolf Ganz Competition and the Maria Canals International Music Competition. Achatz has performed extensively across more than 25 countries, collaborating with major orchestras and conductors. He is also known for his diverse repertoire, which includes works by Gershwin, Debussy, Ravel, and Scriabin, among others.
Achatz's discography includes a wide range of classical music recordings, such as his highly acclaimed CD of Gershwin's music.
