Jaap Van Zweden
Jaap van Zweden is a Dutch conductor and violinist known for his dynamic interpretations and powerful leadership on the podium. Initially making his mark as a violinist, he became the youngest-ever concertmaster of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra at just 19. He later transitioned to conducting and gained international recognition for his transformative work with ensembles like the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and the Hong Kong Philharmonic. In 2018, he took the helm as Music Director of the New York Philharmonic, bringing an electrifying energy to the orchestra’s performances. Whether leading Mahler symphonies or contemporary compositions, van Zweden is celebrated for his precision, intensity, and deep musical insight.
