Tuncay Yılmaz

Tuncay Yılmaz is a renowned Turkish violinist and soloist born in Izmir, Turkey. He began his musical education in his hometown before furthering his studies at the Ankara State Conservatory. Yılmaz received a DAAD scholarship, which allowed him to continue his studies in Germany at the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg and the Hochschule für Musik Saar under Joshua Epstein. He graduated with the highest honors as a soloist. Tuncay Yılmaz has performed as a soloist with several prestigious orchestras, including the Salzburger Mozarteum, Sofia Philharmonie Orchestra, Moscow Symphony Orchestra, and the BBC Concert Orchestra. In 1996, he was appointed as a state soloist by the Turkish Ministry of Culture. He is also a member of the Arkas Trio and has made numerous CD recordings.

Yılmaz plays a rare Italian violin made by Petrus Paulus De Vitor from Venice in 1731, known as "The Red Diamond" due to its distinctive red varnish and exceptional tone. His awards include being recognized as the best Schumann interpreter at the Louis Spohr Violin Competition and receiving the University of Saarland's prize for his performance of Mozart's Fifth Violin Concerto. He has also been a finalist in the Tibor Varga Competition and the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Prize.
