Meerenai Shim

Meerenai Shim is a dynamic flutist known for her focus on contemporary new music, who also wears many hats as a producer, curator, and founder of the independent record label Aerocade Music. She has released four solo albums, including *Sometimes the City is Silent*, *The Art of Noise*, *Pheromone*, and her latest, *The Audacity*, which showcases her virtuosity and modern production skills. Meerenai’s name, meaning “Milky Way” or “Galaxy” in Korean, fittingly reflects her expansive and multifaceted artistic career. She is a founding member of the innovative flute and percussion duo A/B Duo and also performs with the contemporary flute trio Areon Flutes. Beyond performance, she is deeply involved in promoting contemporary classical and experimental music, producing albums for various artists and ensembles primarily from the West Coast.

Meerenai’s work is marked by a commitment to supporting diverse voices in the contemporary music scene, notably through Aerocade Music, which emphasizes artists often outside the mainstream New York scene and promotes inclusivity in its projects.
