Po Sim Head, also known as Fanny Head, is a Hong Kong-born pianist, educator, and musicologist with a deep passion for uncovering and promoting lesser-known piano repertoire from Latin America. She earned her doctorate in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Kansas and holds master’s degrees in piano performance and musicology from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, as well as a bachelor’s degree in Music Composition and Production from Hong Kong Baptist University.
Fanny is dedicated to sharing the rich diversity of Latin American piano music through her performances and recordings, highlighting composers like Peruvian Francisco Pulgar-Vidal and Ecuadorian Blanca Layana Gómez. Her recordings, such as *Between the Andes & the Amazon* and *Piano Sounds from Ecuador*, showcase a blend of folk-inspired rhythms, lyrical melodies, and complex musical forms that reflect the cultural heritage of these composers. Alongside her performing career, she is an experienced teacher and active in academia, regularly presenting research at conferences and supporting young piano teachers through educational resources.
