Gusokumuzu is a Japanese city folk band based in Kichijoji, Tokyo. Formed in 2014 by Eizo Tanaka (vocals/guitar) and Yuki Kato (guitar), the band expanded to a four-piece lineup in 2016 with the addition of Yusuke Horibe (bass) and Yushi Nakajima. Their music is influenced by the band HAPPY END and is characterized by themes that evoke a sense of place and nostalgia, often inviting listeners to imagine their own hometowns through songs that capture the essence of Kichijoji. Some notable releases include "Kurashiteki," a collaboration with Misa Yoneyama's project Bui, and other tracks like "In the Wind" and "Summer Informed."
Their music often uses subjective expressions, written in first or second person, which helps listeners connect emotionally with the narratives of their songs. Gusokumuzu's style is described as "Neo-Fu Street," reflecting their blend of folk and city-inspired themes. With a strong local presence, they are known to energize the Tokyo music scene, particularly around Kichijoji.
