Zyklon was a Norwegian blackened death metal band, renowned for its aggressive and intense musical style that emerged shortly after the dissolution of the infamous black metal band, Emperor. Founded in 1998, the group was conceived by guitarist Samoth (Tomas Haugen) and drummer Trym Torson (Kai Johnny Mosaker), both former members of Emperor, who sought to explore the more death metal-oriented territory. Zyklon's lyrical themes often dealt with anti-religious sentiment, social decay, and humanity's destructive nature, featuring a technical proficiency and a modern approach to extreme metal.
Throughout their active years, Zyklon released three critically acclaimed albums that showcased their relentless musical prowess. Their most recent, "Disintegrate," was unleashed in 2006 and built upon the industrial undertones with ferocious precision. "Aeon," released in 2003, saw the band delving into more complex arrangements and brutal efficiency. Their debut, "World Ov Worms," which hit the scene in 2001, set the tone for their signature sound: a fusion of black metal's chilling atmosphere with the merciless aggression of death metal. Despite their strong start and evolving sound, Zyklon disbanded in 2010, but their imprint on the extreme metal scene remains indelible, with the aforementioned albums being a testament to their formidable influence.
