Kyburz has received several prestigious awards, including the Boris Blacher Prize and the Schneider-Schott Music Prize. He is also recognized for his work as a professor of composition at the Hochschule für Musik "Hanns Eisler" in Berlin since 1997.

Kyburz's compositions often explore complex themes and have been featured in prominent festivals like the Wiener Festwochen and the Wittener Tage für neue Kammermusik. His notable works include "The Voynich Cipher Manuscript," "Cells," and "Noesis," which reflect his unique blend of electronic and classical music elements. His recent releases, such as "Parts" and "Malstrom," continue to showcase his innovative approach to contemporary music.
