Minguet Quartett

The Minguet Quartett, named after Pablo Minguet, an 18th-century Spanish philosopher who tried to make the fine arts accessible to the masses, is a German string quartet founded in 1988. The quartet has distinguished itself as one of the most revered ensembles in the realm of chamber music, both for its riveting performances and its unwavering dedication to the repertoire of classical to contemporary.

Comprising Ulrich Isfort (violin), Annette Reisinger (violin), Aroa Sorin (viola), and Matthias Diener (cello), the Minguet Quartett is celebrated for its precise interpretations, having a cadre of critically acclaimed recordings under its belt. They have extended their musical exploration through collaborations and world premieres, acting as a conduit between the traditional string quartet form and twentieth-century composition. The Quartett’s discography showcases an intense exploration into both well-known masters like Mendelssohn, as demonstrated in their rendition of his "String Quartets, Op. 44 Nos. 1 & 2," and into the works of less mainstream, though compelling, composers like Walter Braunfels in "Braunfels: String Quartet Nos. 1 - 3; String Quintet in E-Flat Major, Op. 63," shedding light on deserving yet underperformed pieces. Their contributions to contemporary classical music are also notable, engaging with current composers like Konstantia Gourzi in "Anájikon" and "Gourzi: Anájikon / The Angel in the Blue Garden, String Quartet No. 3, Op.61: I. The Blue Rose," reinforcing their role as vibrant interpreters of the living tradition of quartet music.
