The Almost is an American rock band that was formed by Underoath drummer and vocalist Aaron Gillespie in Clearwater, Florida, in 2005. Gillespie launched the side project out of a desire to explore his songwriting beyond the confines of Underoath's metalcore roots. The line-up solidified with guitarist Jay Vilardi, bassist Alex Aponte, and drummer Joe Musten, although Gillespie was often the primary recording artist in the early days.
The band's sound blends elements of post-hardcore, alternative rock, and emo, and their career took off with their first album, "Southern Weather," in 2007. The Almost is known for emotive lyrics and a raw, energetic sound. Over the years, they've produced several albums and EPs, gaining a following with records like "Monster Monster," and its deluxe edition, as well as "Fear Inside Our Bones." Their 2019 release, "Fear Caller," added a new chapter to the band's ongoing evolution, showcasing a maturation in their sound while maintaining the earnestness that has characterized their music since the beginning. With Gillespie at the helm, The Almost continues to resonate within the alternative music scene, connecting with fans through a blend of heartfelt melodies and rock intensity.
