Eluveitie

Eluveitie is a Swiss folk metal band formed in 2002 by frontman Chrigel Glanzmann, whose vision was to merge melodic death metal with traditional Celtic music, creating a unique and powerful sound. The band's name is derived from an inscription found on a Celtic artifact and is pronounced as "El-Vey-Ti." Eluveitie is known for their authentic use of historical, traditional instruments such as the hurdy-gurdy, bagpipes, and flutes alongside electric guitars and growling vocals, which has breathed new life into the heavy metal genre by incorporating elements of ancient folklore and mythology.

Since their inception, Eluveitie has released numerous albums that showcase their musical evolution and storytelling abilities. Their most recent album, "Exile Of The Gods," continues their tradition of epic and vibrant storytelling, interwoven with historical narratives. The band gained widespread acclaim with earlier releases such as "Slania," which marked a milestone in their career, and was celebrated with a 10-year anniversary edition. Albums like "Ategnatos" and "Evocation II - Pantheon" show the band's dedication to thematic concepts and their ability to create a powerful fusion of metal riffs with folk melodies. "Origins" digs deep into ancient Celtic history, while the “Live at Masters of Rock 2019” album captures the raw, charismatic energy that characterizes their live performances. With a distinct sound and a keen sense of their cultural heritage, Eluveitie continues to captivate audiences worldwide and remains a prominent name in the genre of folk metal.
