Dominic Davis

Dominic John Davis is a highly respected bassist and producer originally from Southwest Detroit, deeply influenced by Motown's rich musical heritage. A Cass Technical High School alumnus, he studied upright bass drawing inspiration from jazz and blues legends. Known for his tasteful playing style and versatility, Dominic has collaborated with a wide range of artists spanning genres including rock, blues, hip-hop, and Americana. He is best recognized for his work with Jack White & The Buzzards, bringing the upright bass to modern rock stages with his signature tone and groove. Besides performing, he is a sought-after Nashville studio musician and producer, working with acclaimed artists like Wanda Jackson, Tom Jones, Brittany Howard, and Greensky Bluegrass among others.

Dominic also has roots in Michigan’s vibrant music scene, where he played with his string band Steppin’ In It and engaged deeply with local artists. His musical journey reflects a fusion of traditional genres with contemporary sensibilities, often blending folk, jazz, and rock elements.
