Zlatni Dukati

Zlatni Dukati, named after the gold ducat coins from the former Austro-Hungarian Empire, are a folk and tambura band that has become one of the most celebrated and identifiable fixtures in Croatian music. The group was formed in the early 1980s in Osijek, Croatia, under the influence of the tamburitza traditions of the region. Their music is characterized by the use of traditional tamburitza instruments and the blending of folk melodies with a modern production approach, which has earned them a dedicated following within and beyond Croatian borders.

The band gained widespread popularity through their interpretations of Croatian patriotic songs, especially during the Croatian War of Independence, when their music became synonymous with the national struggle. Albums like "Klasika" and "Zlatna Kolekcija" reveal the group's commitment to preserving Croatian musical heritage while making it accessible to a contemporary audience. Through their enduring hits and albums such as "Prvi Hitovi" and "16 Zlatnih Hitova," Zlatni Dukati have secured their place in the hearts of generations of fans with their heartfelt performances and the nostalgic evocation of Croatian culture and history.
