Allauddin Khan

Allauddin Khan, often referred to as "Baba" Allauddin Khan, was a legendary Indian musician and teacher who played a pivotal role in shaping Hindustani classical music in the 20th century. Born in the late 19th century in present-day Bangladesh, Khan was a master of several instruments, but he's best known for his virtuosity on the sarod.

Khan's influence on Indian classical music can't be overstated. He founded the Maihar gharana, a prestigious school of Hindustani classical music, and taught some of the most renowned musicians of the next generation, including Ravi Shankar and his own son, Ali Akbar Khan. Known for his strict teaching methods and deep musical knowledge, Allauddin Khan helped popularize Indian classical music both in India and internationally.
