Orquesta Neno González

Orquesta Neno González was a renowned Cuban popular music orchestra founded by Luis González Valdés, known as Neno González, in the 1930s. Neno González initially formed a charanga in 1924, which he directed with great skill, establishing himself as an experienced leader in this style of orchestra. The orchestra gained prominence with the addition of female vocalist Paulina Álvarez in 1932. Over the years, the group featured a variety of talented musicians and vocalists, including José Raymat, Carlos del Castillo, and Dinorah Nápoles. They performed on major radio stations, at dance halls, cabarets, and television, and recorded with several labels such as Panart, Kubaney, and Areito. Their repertoire included a wide range of genres, from danzón to cha-cha-chá.

Neno González was a Cuban pianist and songwriter born in Havana in 1903 and passed away in 1986. His orchestra was particularly popular in the 1950s and 1960s, known for its elegant performances and rich musical arrangements. The addition of more violins and a cello, played by his son Carlito, significantly enhanced the orchestra's harmony and overall sound. Their music remains celebrated for its vibrant rhythms and timeless appeal, as evident in their remastered albums and collections.
