Comprised initially of Kazumasa Oda and Yasuhiro Suzuki when they began creating music together in 1969, the band went through various lineup changes over the years, eventually becoming a quintet. Their music struck a chord with audiences, as evinced by their enduring hit "Sayonara" ("Goodbye"), which remains a classic ballad in Japan.

The band's influence expanded beyond their home country and resonated with an international audience, showcasing the universal appeal of their poignant lyrics and harmonious compositions. Despite disbanding in 1989, the legacy of Off Course endures, with a rich discography that is celebrated for its artistic depth. Their 40th Anniversary Live Album commemorating a performance at Nippon Budokan in 1982 stands as a testament to their significant impact on Japanese music history, capturing the band's essence at the peak of their live performance prowess. Their catalog, featuring albums like "SELECTION 1973-78" and "JUNKTION," continues to be rediscovered by new generations, securing Off Course's place as timeless icons within the canon of Japanese music.
