Yannick Nézet-Séguin is a Canadian conductor and pianist, widely recognized as one of the leading figures in classical music today. Born on March 6, 1975, in Montreal, Quebec, Nézet-Séguin demonstrated a passion and talent for music from an early age. After studying piano, conducting, composition, and chamber music at the Conservatoire de musique du Québec à Montréal, his conducting career rapidly gained momentum.
Renowned for his charisma, depth of interpretation, and energetic conducting style, Nézet-Séguin has been the Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the Orchestre Métropolitain in Montreal since 2000. His international acclaim soared with his appointments as Music Director of the Philadelphia Orchestra in 2012 and the Metropolitan Opera in New York in 2018.
