Dino Franco e Mouraí were a renowned Brazilian sertanejo duo formed in 1980, known for their contributions to traditional sertanejo and viola caipira music. Dino Franco, born Oswaldo Franco on September 8, 1936, in Paranapanema, São Paulo, was a singer, composer, and musician. His partner, Mouraí, born Luiz Carlos Ribeiro on July 19, 1946, in Ibirarema, São Paulo, complemented Franco's talents. Together, they pioneered the re-recording of classic sertanejo hits, such as "Sertaneja" and "A Volta Do Caboclo." Their repertoire included popular songs like "Caboclo Na Cidade," "Manto Estrelado," and "Minha Mensagem." The duo released over 13 albums during their 25-year career, including notable titles like "Sertanejo Sem Mistura" and "Presente De Deus." After Mouraí's passing in 2005, Dino Franco continued his career solo until his own passing on April 4, 2014.
Their music often celebrated the traditional caipira style, incorporating genres like guaranias, polcas, and boleros into their performances. Dino Franco e Mouraí's legacy remains significant in Brazilian music, with their songs still remembered fondly today.
