Los Straitjackets

Los Straitjackets are an American instrumental rock band that formed in Nashville, Tennessee, in 1988. Known for their unique brand of guitar-driven surf music, the band has carved out a niche for itself with a combination of classic covers, original tunes, and outlandish stage antics. Their most distinguishing feature is the luchador masks that each member wears on stage, a nod to the Mexican wrestling tradition, which has become a signature element of their identity. The group's members go by the stage names of Eddie Angel, Danny Amis (also known as Daddy-O Grande), Pete Curry, and Chris Sprague.

Over the years, Los Straitjackets have built a dedicated fan base with their high-energy performances and a prolific discography that pays homage to the surf and instrumental rock sounds of the 1960s while infusing their own modern twists. Their music often displays a keen sense of humor and cultural pastiche, which can be heard in their inventive renditions of popular songs as well as their engaging original compositions. With releases like "April Showers," "Hombre," and "Space Junket," Los Straitjackets demonstrate an enduring ability to bridge the gap between traditional surf music and contemporary influences, earning them a respected place in the pantheon of instrumental rock bands.
