Heigeign

Heigeign is an Austrian quintet that blends pannonian folk music with jazz, creating a unique sound that reflects the cultural diversity of the Pannonian region. Formed in 2005, the band's music features lyrics in Hianzisch, Burgenlandkroatisch, Ungarisch, and Romanes, showcasing the rich linguistic heritage of their homeland. Their discography includes albums like *Huamweh* (2006), *Joschi* (2008), and *Indigo* (2011), which highlight their ability to reinterpret folk songs and create original compositions inspired by the region's vibrant musical traditions. Heigeign has been invited to perform at various festivals, including *Glatt & Verkehrt* and *Polka Nova*, further solidifying their position in the new folk music scene. The band members include Jürgen Steiner on accordion, Hannes Laszakovits on bass, Marianne Prenner on vocals, Markus Prenner on guitar, and Feri Schwarz on drums.
