Wildernessking

Wildernessking is a South African progressive/post-black metal band formed in 2011 in Cape Town. Initially starting as a black 'n roll project called Heathens in 2010, the band evolved into a more progressive and diverse sound, incorporating elements of rock and ambient music. Their discography includes notable releases such as *The Writing of Gods in the Sand*, *The Devil Within*, and *Mystical Future*. The band's music often explores themes of personal introspection, loss, and enlightenment, drawing inspiration from various musical genres and art forms. Wildernessking gained recognition for their unique blend of atmospheric black metal with influences from post-rock and progressive rock, making them one of the most prominent metal bands from Africa.

The band's lineup included Keenan Nathan Oakes on vocals and bass, Dylan Viljoen and Jesse Navarre Vos on guitars, and Jason Jardim on drums. Despite their success and international recognition, Wildernessking eventually disbanded. During their active years, they were known for their ambitious sound and the emotional depth of their music, which resonated with fans and critics alike.
