Cesk Freixas

Cesk Freixas, born Francesc Freixas i Morros on April 17, 1984, in Sant Pere de Riudebitlles, is a renowned Catalan singer-songwriter, writer, and activist. He began his musical journey in 2004, initially performing with the group Pangea before launching his solo career. Freixas is known for his work in traditional music, popular music, and protest songs, often using instruments like the classical and acoustic guitar. His discography includes notable albums such as *Set voltes rebel*, *El camí cap a nosaltres*, *La mà dels qui t'esperen*, *Tocats pel foc*, *Protesta*, *Proposta*, *Festa Major*, *Memòria*, and *Direm nosaltres*. He has also published several books, including *Paraules per a Gaeta*, *Alè de taronja sencera*, and *El delta de les paraules*. Freixas has been involved in political activism, previously affiliated with the Candidatura d'Unitat Popular, and has faced censorship attempts due to his ideological stance.

Cesk Freixas has received numerous awards for his contributions to music, including multiple Enderrock Awards and the Premi Nacional Joan Coromines for his work in promoting Catalan language and culture. His music often explores themes of social critique and personal narratives, blending rock and acoustic elements with poetic storytelling. Freixas announced an indefinite pause in his musical project in late 2023, coinciding with his twentieth anniversary as a performer, and will embark on a final tour through 2024 and into early 2025.
